Transmission of Infections
In animals, parasites can be quite common. These parasites can be transferred to humans from eating the flesh, particularly if the meat is not cooked properly. Infections are spread by eating infected food, in feces or from touching surfaces where the single-celled parasitic organisms are found. For pet owners, infection control involves de-worming dogs, cats or horses periodically both for the health of the pet and the health of the human owner. Some intestinal worms are spread from animal to human. The parasite can enter through a scrape or cut in the skin, creating localized infection as well as long-term health issues
